WOMEN'S OPEN DAY AT MUAC
7 MARCH 2020
Just before International Women’s Day, we are opening our doors on 7 March 2020 to show that women make excellent controllers as well! On our usual open days, 30% of participants were female and 70% were male. Let’s change this ratio for this event! In addition, we will welcome you with an all-female crew to guide you through the programme and show you what the job of an air traffic controller entails.
Men interested in becoming controllers and who support women in aviation are also welcome, of course! If you prefer to give the opportunity to ladies this time, save the date of our future regular Open Days planned for 16 May and 19 September 2020.
EUROCONTROL's Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre (MUAC) is an operational air traffic control centre controlling aircraft flying above the Benelux and north-west Germany above flight level 245 and we are continuously recruiting young people to become air traffic controllers in our centre.
During the Open Day you will get a guided tour of the centre, see where the air traffic controllers work, receive their training and spend their break times. You will also meet active air traffic controllers and student controllers, as well as our experts who can tell you more about what you need to become an air traffic controller and what other types of jobs and traineeship opportunities MUAC offers. On this special occasion, all of us will be women.
Please note that you need to pre-register for this event. Registration can only be done via this form and it is on a first come, first served basis. Only people aged between 17 and 24 years who are nationals of one of the 41 EUROCONTROL Member States may register. A valid photo ID must be presented on arrival. The entire event will be in English language, so a good level of English is required. Participants must arrange and pay for their own travel and/or accommodation, EUROCONTROL cannot cover or reimburse any expenses. Please note that this is a "No parents" event, parents or other relatives will not be admitted. Visitors will be distributed into groups and groups will start between 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. In this registration form, you can sign up for your preferred starting time (if places are still available). The program lasts approximately 3 hours for each group.
